Top 5 Foreign Tourist by Nationality of Indonesia’s Tourism in Feb 2016 & Review

Indonesia has numerous beautiful islands.  We have around 17.508 islands and 8 UNESCO nominated world heritage sites such as Borobudur Temple Compounds, Prambanan Temple Compounds, Komodo National Park, and Cultural Landscape of Bali Province. In addition, tourism has been one of the most important contributor to boost economy. Tourism contribute the 4th place for Indonesia foreign exchange revenue and President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ever said  the tourism industry could encourage the development of small and medium enterprises as well as creative industries.

In the other side, global financial crisis is still looking for a point of equilibrium but fortunately, foreign tourists still coming to this beautiful country for past 10 years. The number continues growing.

One might wonder which nationalities are top five visitors to Indonesia in February 2016. Data showed visitors of USA, Australia, China, Europe, India, Japan, Malaysia, UK, South Korea, and Singapore are on the top list. Actually Singapore has been the top visitors every year to Indonesia since 2000 but in case February 2016, the first is China. About 159,371 visitors are Chinese. Singapore followed as the second with 116,129 visitors. The Third is Malaysia with 98,323 visitors. Australia and Japan are in fourth and fifth positions which recorded 73,160 and 45.435 visitors in ordeal series. Those nationalities also have contributed as the top five visitors for the last 2 years in February among all nationalities in the world and all of them are from Asia Pacific.

Let’s have a look to revenue contribution of those top five foreign nationals to Indonesia tourism. Amazingly, they contributed as half as all Indonesia tourism revenue among any other nationalities. They are mostly coming to Bali  for both adventure and relaxation. Australia consistently took the first place during 2010 – 2014. Australians spent average 9 days when visited Indonesia.

Looking at the fact, Indonesia government and society are hopefully can maintain and even more increasing services when they traveling to Indonesia. Support their accommodation, special food, sightseeing, good tourism sites, etc. And this will give them a special experience. Thus even though the world is still facing global financial crisis, tourism in Indonesia would  still be promising to local or foreign tourists because our market mainly come from Asia Pacific.
